Applications Engineer

Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems.

Our company is looking for a Applications Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with the development and designing of tooling and other production equipment;
  • Responsible for controlling all drawings within the company, including revisions and re-issuing of updated drawings in line with quality standards;
  • When necessary assist customers with identifying and correcting problems in the field;
  • Carry out projects as identified in the Engineering Meeting and as decided on by the Engineering/Manufacturing Executive;
  • When necessary design new products in accordance with company standards;
  • Assist the QA department to ensure that company meets all aspects of its required Quality Standards;
  • Assist with the renewal of the company plant in terms of automation and cost reduction;
  • Optimise existing product designs to meet customer requirements, including material optimization;
  • Arrange for prototypes to be manufactured and tested, both in the development and in the field;
  • Chair and administrate the Engineering Meeting on a weekly basis;
  • When necessary research and source technical equipment for quality control, production and maintenance purposes.

Requirements:

  • Quality Management to ISO9001, Environmental management to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 knowledge and skills;
  • Drawing Office Skills and the use of Solidworks and/or other CAD software;
  • Matric;
  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Rail industry knowledge would be advantageous.
