Procurement Officer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Procurement Officer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Make sure goods/services are procured from the correct budget code and within the approved budget amount;
- Establish & maintain contract records; ensuring compliance with company guidelines (policy & procedures are adhered to);
- Execute tender agreements and follow up as required;
- Create / assist with RFQs/RFTs;
- Ensure compliance in terms of the PFMA, the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) and National Treasury Regulations;
- Ensure orders are placed only with Suppliers listed on National Treasury’s Central Supplier Database;
- Delivery of procurement initiatives to affect cost savings to the business;
- Purchase and order in accordance with specifications;
- Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers;
- Manage and maintain the company’s material and stocked product inventory including stock profiles and stock locations;
- Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports;
- Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts;
- Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies;
- Following and enforcing the company’s procurement policies and procedures;
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
Requirements:
- National Diploma/ Degree in Procurement or relevant finance degree;
- Relevant qualification and/or suitable background experience in procurement management ideally SAPICS or any qualification in Supply Chain;
- Have an understanding of MRP and inventory control / management systems and ERP;
- Possess excellent personal organisation and business administration skills in accordance with modern best practice methods;
- Good analytical, strategic thinking skills and attention to detail;
- Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Procurement within the IT industry will be an advantage;
- Advanced Excel;
- Certificate or equivalent in Public Procurement/Supply Chain;
- BEE experience;
- Tertiary qualification (diploma or equivalent) Procurement and Supply Chain Management covering accounting, inventory management, negotiation basics;
- At least 2 years experience in a similar role;
- Well spoken;
- Preferably Drivers license and own vehicle (preferable but not essential).
