Financial Accountant

A well-established and growing organisation is looking to appoint a Financial Accountant who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys taking ownership of the general ledger across multiple entities.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative finance team where you'll work closely with the Financial Manager while engaging directly with the CEO and Executive Committee. Beyond the traditional accounting function, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives and strategic finance activities that add real value to the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all general ledger postings, including journals, bank transactions and month-end processing across multiple entities.
• Perform month-end reconciliations and execute accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Assist with annual audits, budgeting, forecasting and other finance-related projects.
• Analyse existing financial processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and automation.
• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE and other statutory returns where applicable.
• Support the Financial Manager with ad hoc financial reporting and operational finance requirements.

Job Experience and Skills Required

Education:

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification is non-negotiable.
• Completed SAICA Articles will be advantageous.

Experience:

• Proven experience within a Financial Accountant or similar role.
• Strong experience managing the full general ledger function.
• Exposure to month-end and year-end reporting, reconciliations and audit preparation.
• Experience working across multiple entities will be advantageous.

Skills & Systems:

• Sage Intacct experience is highly advantageous.
• Experience on similar ERP or accounting systems will be considered.
• Draftworx experience is beneficial.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of SARS eFiling, including VAT and PAYE submissions.
• Exposure to CIPC submissions will be advantageous.
