Fix it right the first time: that is the job at this fast-fit tyre and service centre in Johannesburg CBD. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.
You'll be based at a fast-fit tyre and service centre in Johannesburg CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.
What you'll actually do
- Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
- Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
- Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
- Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
- Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
What you need
- Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
- Your own basic toolbox
- Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
- At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
- Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
Extra points for
- Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
- High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
