3-Piece Can Maker

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, and monitor 3-piece can making machinery to achieve production targets.
• Perform machine changeovers, adjustments, and settings for different can sizes and specifications.
• Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Identify and resolve production faults, equipment issues, and process deviations to minimise downtime.
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance and support breakdown repairs where required.
• Ensure machines operate efficiently while maintaining optimal production output.
• Perform quality inspections and record production data accurately.
• Reduce waste, improve efficiencies, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in accordance with 5S principles.
• Comply with all health, safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.
• Work closely with maintenance, quality, and production teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
• Participate in shift handovers and communicate production issues effectively.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Trade Test (Mechanical Fitter, Millwright, Electrician or similar) will be advantageous.
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a 3-piece can manufacturing environment .
• Experience operating and setting high-speed can making equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of quality control processes within metal packaging manufacturing.
• Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
• Computer literacy.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when required.
