This is hands-on electrical work in Sandton: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.
Location: Sandton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.
The work, day to day
- Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
- Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
- Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
- Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
- Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
- Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
- Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
What you need
- Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
- Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
- Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
- Valid Code 08 driver's licence
Nice if you have
- Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters
- PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
- N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
On offer
- Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
- Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
- Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
How to apply
- Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
- Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: Wireman's licence or registration letter from the Department of Employment and Labour, certified copy of your ID plus driver's licence copy.
- Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
- If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 10 working days, usually by phone.

How to stand out
- Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
- List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
