Senior Project Manager: Shopfitting

Our client, an established organization within the retail construction and manufacturing sectors, is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to oversee complex shopfitting projects. This role offers a platform to lead high-value initiatives, drive operational excellence, and shape the customer experience in a dynamic environment.

What You'll Do:

• Develop comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, and milestones for each retail shopfitting project.

• Review client requirements, technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documentation to ensure project readiness.

• Coordinate complete technical drawing packs that incorporate architectural, manufacturing, engineering, and services information.

• Define project scope, deliverables, budgets, procurement needs, and construction methodologies.

• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies prior to project initiation.

• Secure all statutory, landlord approvals, permits, and project documentation before site setup.

• Act as the central point of contact among clients, consultants, landlords, professional teams, subcontractors, and internal departments.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and service excellence.

• Manage the full turnkey retail fit-out process from Beneficial Occupation through to final handover, snagging, and sign-off.

• Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets, implementing corrective actions as necessary.

• Coordinate site activities for safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption.

• Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality standards and client specifications are met.

• Oversee commissioning, final inspections, snag rectification, and project close-out.

• Manage subcontractors responsible for flooring, ceilings, electrical, lighting, plumbing, shopfronts, signage, HVAC, CCTV, security, and related systems.

• Monitor subcontractor performance, safety compliance, and contractual obligations.

• Liaise with manufacturing to ensure timely production and delivery of shopfitting components.

• Prepare and oversee project budgets, control costs, review variations, and approve payments.

• Lead resource allocation and develop the capabilities of project teams.

• Promote a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and professional development.

• Support the implementation of new technologies and project management methodologies.

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing multiple high-value retail shopfitting projects.

• Extensive knowledge of retail construction methodologies and specialist building services.

• Strong commercial acumen in project costing, procurement, contracts, and budgeting.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and professional consultants.

• Excellent project planning, scheduling, and financial management skills.

• Leadership qualities with a focus on mentorship and team development.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

• Proficiency in project management tools and digital platforms.
