Senior Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities across underground mining projects.
• Manage engineering studies from conceptual design through to feasibility stages.
• Deliver projects within approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Act as Project Manager and/or Mechanical Engineering Lead where required.
• Conduct engineering reviews and provide technical oversight to project teams.
• Support proposal preparation, project planning, and business development initiatives.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, engineering standards, and HSE requirements.
• Participate in site visits, audits, assessments, and commissioning activities.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) will be highly advantageous.

Experience

• 9-15 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering within the mining industry.
• Proven experience in engineering studies from Conceptual through to Feasibility level.
• Experience working on both Greenfields and Brownfields mining projects.
• Strong project management experience within a consulting or mining environment.
• Demonstrated experience in technical report writing and engineering documentation.

Candidates should possess strong knowledge and experience within:

• Underground mining systems and infrastructure.
• Shaft and decline access systems.
• Bulk materials handling systems.
• Underground and surface mining equipment selection.
• Fleet maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Personnel transport systems.
• Hydrocarbon handling and transport systems.
• Mine service infrastructure.
• Equipment specifications and procurement.
• Vendor technical evaluations.
• Cost estimation and budgeting.
• Commissioning and quality assurance.
• Relevant mining, mechanical engineering, and safety standards.
