Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering activities across underground mining projects.
- Manage engineering studies from conceptual design through to feasibility stages.
- Deliver projects within approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Act as Project Manager and/or Mechanical Engineering Lead where required.
- Conduct engineering reviews and provide technical oversight to project teams.
- Support proposal preparation, project planning, and business development initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, engineering standards, and HSE requirements.
- Participate in site visits, audits, assessments, and commissioning activities.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- BEng or BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) will be highly advantageous.
Experience
- 9-15 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering within the mining industry.
- Proven experience in engineering studies from Conceptual through to Feasibility level.
- Experience working on both Greenfields and Brownfields mining projects.
- Strong project management experience within a consulting or mining environment.
- Demonstrated experience in technical report writing and engineering documentation.
Technical Expertise
Candidates should possess strong knowledge and experience within:- Underground mining systems and infrastructure.
- Shaft and decline access systems.
- Bulk materials handling systems.
- Underground and surface mining equipment selection.
- Fleet maintenance and reliability engineering.
- Personnel transport systems.
- Hydrocarbon handling and transport systems.
- Mine service infrastructure.
- Equipment specifications and procurement.
- Vendor technical evaluations.
- Cost estimation and budgeting.
- Commissioning and quality assurance.
- Relevant mining, mechanical engineering, and safety standards.
