Senior Project Manager - Infrastructure Development

About the RoleOur client, a leading developer of large-scale infrastructure projects, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee significant undertakings in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
This role requires a seasoned professional capable of managing all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and feasibility studies through to construction and handover.
You will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead the planning, execution, and completion of major infrastructure development projects in Durban.
Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
Manage and coordinate all project activities, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
Oversee and manage contracts with external vendors, consultants, and contractors.
Identify and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as needed.
Regularly report project status, progress, and financial performance to senior management and stakeholders.
Foster effective communication and collaboration among project team members, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Conduct post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
A Master's degree is advantageous.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in project management, with a strong focus on large-scale infrastructure development (e.g., roads, bridges, public utilities).
Proven experience managing projects from inception through to completion.
In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and relevant technical tools.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing large project budgets.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Professional certifications such as PMP or professional engineer registration are highly valued.
