Senior Civil Engineer - Infrastructure

About the RoleOur client, a leading infrastructure development firm, is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in infrastructure projects to join their esteemed team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
This pivotal role involves the planning, design, and supervision of major civil infrastructure developments, including roads, stormwater management systems, and bulk earthworks.
You will be instrumental in leading project teams, ensuring adherence to stringent quality and safety standards, and collaborating effectively with various stakeholders, including government bodies and construction contractors.
The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of civil engineering principles, a strong project management background, and a commitment to contributing to the growth and development of Durban 's infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, stormwater drainage, and water reticulation systems.
Manage project lifecycles from conceptualization and feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction, and handover.
Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
Oversee and mentor junior civil engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and quality control.
Conduct site investigations, surveys, and feasibility assessments for new infrastructure projects.
Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with relevant SANS, municipal bylaws, and environmental regulations.
Liaise with clients, government authorities, and other consultants to coordinate project requirements and approvals.
Manage project resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure efficient and timely project completion.
Supervise construction activities, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to design specifications.
Provide technical expertise and problem-solving solutions during project execution.
RequirementsProfessional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
A Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in the design and management of civil infrastructure projects.
Extensive knowledge of road design, stormwater management, traffic engineering, and municipal services.
Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, relevant hydrological modeling software, and project management tools.
Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and leading engineering teams.
Strong understanding of South African construction and procurement processes.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
A valid driver's license and willingness to undertake site visits within KwaZulu-Natal.
