Assistant Financial Controller — 6 month contract Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Assistant Financial Controller — 6 month contract to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- To ensure the adherence of external and internal standard accounting procedures in all the accounting operations;
- Assist with monthly results explanations as well as providing information;
- Assisting with external and internal audit queries;
- Facilitate learning and development for all the team members of the department;
- Assist the Financial Controller with maintaining the asset register on a monthly basis;
- Compile detailed balance sheet reconciliations;
- Hold monthly meetings and review status of paymasters with other departments to ensure the aging of debt stays low;
- Reviewing of daily revenue interfacing;
- Preparation of the monthly VAT201 form as well as the monitoring of the VAT payable balance;
- Monitoring of staff timesheets and submission thereof to Human Resources on a daily and monthly basis;
- Performance Appraisal/ Management of the staff in the department.
Requirements:
- Hospitality experience advantageous, preferably in a 5-star environment;
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask and prioritize;
- Practical knowledge of general hotel operations and a good knowledge base of accounting;
- An ability to communicate with all levels of staff and service providers;
- Income tax knowledge advantageous;
- VAT knowledge advantageous;
- Experience in Managing a team;
- A degree or diploma in accounting from a recognised tertiary educational institution;
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience working as an assistant to the financial controller or in a similar role.
