Group Accountant Job Description Template

Our company is looking for a Group Accountant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances;
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition;
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements;
  • Support month-end and year-end close process;
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting;
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance;
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Requirements:

  • Big 4 Completed Articles;
  • BCom Accounting Degree;
  • CA(SA);
  • 6-18 months post article experience;
  • Determining subsidiary / company dividend payments taking into account tax, financial structuring and other considerations;
  • Assist in the management of the OGL accounting function;
  • Development and implementation of accounting policies for the group in compliance with IFRS and JSE requirements;
  • Review and consolidation of operating company results, reporting to board, reporting group results on SENS and in the press at half year and year end;
  • Tax management and compliance for OGL and the share trusts;
  • Assist in developing group policies and procedures around internal financial governance;
  • Preparation of board and audit committee books for the respective meetings;
  • Management and oversight of the two employee share trusts.
