Merchandise Commercial Specialist (Trading Terms, Rebates & Contract Finance)

You are likely to be a strong match if you have:

• A relevant Degree or Diploma in Commerce, Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Approximately 3 to 5 years’ experience in contract administration, commercial operations, rebate administration or retail finance support.
• Strong knowledge of retail trading terms, including rebates, allowances, promotional agreements, volume tiers and growth incentives.
• Experience translating contractual terms into system rules, calculation methods and accounting treatments.
• Practical experience with SAP, an equivalent ERP or a contract-management system .
• Exposure to accruals, reconciliations, settlements and supplier disputes.
• Experience supervising or guiding a small operational team.
• Previous experience within a retail, grocery or FMCG environment .

What you will be responsible for:

• Oversee the accurate capture and maintenance of supplier and commercial agreements.
• Ensure rebates, allowances, promotional mechanics, growth incentives and other trading terms are correctly reflected in the system.
• Translate commercial wording into effective dates, calculation rules, tiers, thresholds, accounting codes and posting instructions.
• Manage contract amendments, renewals, extensions and terminations.
• Maintain appropriate version control, approvals and supporting documentation.
• Review and approve financial master-data changes within delegated authority.
• Ensure contract data is complete, accurate and supported by the required approval evidence.
• Provide contract calculations and supporting information for accruals, chargebacks, reconciliations and supplier settlements.
• Investigate discrepancies and work with suppliers, commercial teams and finance to resolve disputes.
• Monitor contract expiries, upcoming renewals and outstanding documentation.
• Maintain strong controls, segregation of duties and audit-ready records.
• Produce reports on contract status, trading-term coverage, disputes and financial performance.
• Identify opportunities to automate contract intake, validation and approval processes.
• Guide and develop the team responsible for day-to-day commercial contract administration.

Data monetisation and incentive programmes:
The role will also support the financial administration of newer commercial models, including data-related services and performance incentives. This will involve:

• Translating licence fees, usage tiers or revenue-share arrangements into billing and financial rules.
• Validating invoicing, settlements and revenue-recognition information.
• Monitoring financial performance and investigating discrepancies.
• Supporting the design and implementation of commercial incentive programmes.
• Measuring performance against agreed revenue or margin targets.
• Ensuring contractual and system readiness before new initiatives are launched.

What will set you apart:

• Working knowledge of SAP CCM or SAP S/4HANA .
• Experience with supplier portals, EDI or other electronic contract-intake methods.
• An understanding of contract-to-ledger processes and the accounting impact of trading terms.
• Exposure to IFRS or GAAP principles.
• Experience managing the financial aspects of data monetisation, licensing or revenue-share models.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Experience resolving supplier disputes or investigating complex calculation differences.
• A record of improving or automating contract-management processes.
