Senior Claims Assessor - Motor - East London

This role can be performed remotely, supporting operations in East London, Eastern Cape.
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, negotiating, and settling complex motor insurance claims efficiently and fairly.

Key Responsibilities Assess and process a high volume of motor insurance claims, including accident, theft, and damage claims.
Interpret policy wordings and conditions to determine coverage eligibility.
Investigate claims by gathering information from claimants, witnesses, garages, and other relevant parties.
Assess vehicle damage and authorize repair costs or total loss settlements.
Negotiate settlements with claimants, repairers, and third parties in a professional and ethical manner.
Identify potential instances of fraud or misrepresentation and escalation accordingly.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of claim activities and communications within the claims management system.
Provide clear and timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders regarding claim status.
Ensure adherence to company claims handling procedures, service standards, and regulatory requirements.
Mentor junior claims assessors and assist with complex claim escalations.
Requirements A relevant qualification in Insurance, Law, or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in motor vehicle insurance claims assessment.
In-depth knowledge of motor vehicle repair processes, parts pricing, and valuation methods.
Strong understanding of insurance legislation and regulations relevant to motor claims in South Africa.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Superior negotiation and communication abilities.
Proficiency in claims management software and standard office applications.
Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work independently in a remote setting.
High level of integrity, empathy, and customer service orientation.
Valid driver's license.
