A well-established multinational organisation with operations across Africa is seeking an ICT / Infrastructure Lead to take responsibility for supporting and strengthening its technology environment across multiple branches and countries.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone sitting between senior technical support and IT management – technically strong enough to get involved when required, but experienced enough to coordinate people, suppliers, infrastructure and projects across a distributed environment.

The position is based at the company's Johannesburg head office and will involve regular travel into African countries to support regional operations.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day reliability, security and performance of IT infrastructure supporting multiple branches and entities across Africa.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting IT infrastructure across multiple African countries, branches and entities .

• Overseeing networks, servers, systems, hardware and software across the regional environment.

• Providing hands-on technical support and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues.

• Supporting country teams and coordinating the resolution of regional IT incidents.

• Managing hardware and software maintenance, upgrades, backups and IT asset registers.

• Supporting network administration, installations and connectivity across multiple sites.

• Managing and monitoring cybersecurity controls and ensuring adherence to Group IT policies.

• Supporting cloud infrastructure, data centres, data governance and disaster recovery.

• Coordinating third-party IT service providers and developing/managing in-country SLAs.

• Leading infrastructure projects including system implementations, upgrades and migrations.

• Evaluating new technologies and identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and cost.

• Supporting IT budgeting, forecasting and resource planning.

• Working closely with business stakeholders to ensure technology supports operational requirements.

• Travelling to African operations as required to provide on-the-ground technology support and oversee implementations.

The underlying role has broad accountability across infrastructure, servers, networks, security, IT projects, disaster recovery and in-country IT service providers.

What We're Looking For

• Relevant IT / ICT degree or diploma .

• Approximately 3–5+ years' relevant IT infrastructure / ICT experience , ideally with some team, project or supplier leadership responsibility.

• Experience supporting a multi-site, multi-branch or multi-entity organisation is essential .

• Previous experience supporting operations across African countries or multiple geographic locations is strongly preferred.

• Willingness and ability to travel regularly into Africa .

• Strong hands-on knowledge of:

  • Network administration and installation

  • Servers and infrastructure

  • Hardware and software environments

  • Cloud technologies

  • Cybersecurity and security protocols

  • Data centres

  • Data governance

  • Backups and disaster recovery

  • IT asset management

• Experience managing IT projects, implementations, upgrades and migrations.

• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capability.

• Experience managing third-party technology suppliers and SLAs.

• Automotive, dealership or similarly distributed retail/branch-network experience would be highly advantageous.
