About the RoleAbout the Role Our client is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Facilitator to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape .
This role is focused on providing essential support and guidance to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, empowering them to access resources and improve their well-being.
The ideal candidate will possess empathy, strong communication skills, and a foundational understanding of mental health principles.
You will work closely with individuals to offer emotional support, connect them with professional services, and facilitate their journey towards recovery and resilience within the community.
This is a crucial role contributing to mental health accessibility in Queenstown .
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide non-clinical emotional support and companionship to individuals with mental health concerns.
Assist clients in identifying and accessing appropriate mental health services and support groups.
Facilitate psycho-educational sessions on mental health topics, coping strategies, and well-being.
Support clients in developing daily living skills and routines.
Act as a link between clients, their families, and mental health professionals.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.
Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals accessing mental health support.
Organize and lead support group meetings.
Collaborate with the program team to develop and improve support services.
Ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all clients.
RequirementsA qualification in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, community health, or counseling is preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in providing support within a mental health or community services context.
Good understanding of common mental health conditions and recovery principles.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and non-judgmental support.
Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel within the Queenstown area.
A strong commitment to promoting mental well-being and reducing stigma.
Must be able to work under pressure and handle sensitive situations with discretion.
