You'll fix what breaks and prevent what might, around the shopping centre in Randburg. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.
You'll be based at a shopping centre in Randburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.
What you'll actually do
- Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used
- Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs
- Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)
- Patch, sand and paint walls, doors and ceilings between tenants
- Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
- Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
Must-haves
- Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
- Available for the occasional weekend emergency
- Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
- At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references
- Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
- Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
Nice if you have
- Experience with a work order system on a phone app
- Pool and borehole pump experience
- Basic first aid certificate
