We are on the hunt for a capable Underground Supervisor to join a busy team in Sandton, Gauteng.

Responsibilities
- Ensure all mining activities comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act and the company's safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct daily workplace inspections before each shift to identify hazards and ensure the working area is safe.
- Collect, log, and transport geological samples to the laboratory, maintaining chain of custody and following sampling protocols.
- Operate mining equipment such as drill rigs, continuous miners, roof bolters, and loaders safely per operating procedures.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses thoroughly, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Supervise mining crew activities to ensure production is carried out according to the mining plan within approved safety parameters.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production and safety reports detailing achievements, incidents, and concerns.
Requirements
- Physical fitness to work in demanding conditions including confined spaces, heights, and variable temperatures.
- A valid medical certificate of fitness confirming fitness to work in a mining environment including underground conditions.
- For geology roles, a bachelor's degree in geology or geoscience and experience with geological modelling and sampling software.
- Thorough knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and relevant regulations governing mining operations in South Africa.
- For blasting roles, a valid blasting certificate and experience in handling and use of explosives in a mining environment.
- For supervisory roles, a Mine Overseer's Certificate of Competency or Shift Boss Certificate from the relevant mining authority.
