Finance Manager - Transactional Banking

Our client is a leading player within the Financial Services and Payments environment, delivering innovative transactional banking solutions to a rapidly growing customer base. They are seeking a commercially minded Finance Manager to join their high-performing finance team.

This is a highly operational finance role where you will take ownership of revenue accounting, financial reporting, commercial analysis, and process improvement. The environment is fast-paced and constantly evolving, requiring someone who is comfortable working through complexity while driving automation and operational excellence.

One of the key challenges within this position is ensuring that revenue is accounted for accurately while manual processes are transitioned into automated solutions. This requires someone who enjoys getting involved in the detail, questioning existing processes, and partnering with the business to improve financial accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the finance team while driving high performance and continuous improvement.
• Take ownership of revenue accounting and ensure revenue is recognised accurately and completely.
• Analyse revenue trends and identify potential revenue leakage.
• Perform detailed variance analysis and provide meaningful commercial insights.
• Develop and maintain management packs for executive decision-making.
• Understand and manage interchange and Tier 1 costing structures.
• Partner with operational teams to improve financial controls and reporting accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory financial requirements.
• Drive automation initiatives across finance processes and reporting.
• Monitor financial performance through trend analysis and key performance indicators.
• Improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across finance, operations, technology, and compliance.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• CA(SA) qualification is essential.
• 5–8 years post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience within Financial Services, Payments, Transactional Banking, or FinTech.
• Minimum 3 years' experience managing a finance team or operating as a Finance Manager.
• Strong understanding of revenue accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience with management reporting, commercial analysis, and financial controls.
• Exposure to automation initiatives and process optimisation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modelling capability.
