ECP Lecturer: Civil Engineering X3 (Two-Year Contract) (Re-advertisement)

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology was established on 1 January 2005, when the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon merged. This merger was part of a national transformation process that transformed the higher education landscape in South Africa. Today, this institution is the only university of technology in the Western Cape and is the largest university in the region, boasting more than 30 000 students, several campuses and service points and more than 70 programmes. However, the institution has humble beginnings in the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon, which dates back to the early 1900’s.Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience Masters in Civil Engineering or related discipline. All base qualifications must be in Civil Engineering. At least two years relevant lecturing experience in higher education and/ or two years industrial experience in Civil Engineering. Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa is recommended. Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities Assisting with the coordination of all academic activities relating to, but not limited to: Lecturing Civil Engineering subjects at undergraduate level. Planning and executing all teaching and learning activities for Civil Engineering subjects. Participation in Curriculum Development of new PQM. Develop learning materials for Civil Engineering qualifications. Participation in Industry Advisory Committees & partnerships. Promotion of community participation and linkages. Involvement in and assist with any Quality assurance activities including professional body accreditations. Involvement in any other T&L and administrative activities as required by the department related to the post. Conducting research, research supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate projects and dissertations. Research funding applications both internally and externally. Personal & professional development. Assisting with WIL and planning of service-learning initiatives. Assisting with recruitment, admissions & marketing as is reasonably required by the HoD: Civil Engineering.
