Fragomen Johannesburg is inviting applications for a 12-month Internship Programme. This opportunity is designed for recent graduates who are interested in immigration and global mobility, and who are looking to gain practical experience within a leading global immigration firm.

Eligibility

• Hold an Honours degree from a recognised university, preferably with a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Management, or a related field.
• Be available to participate in the full 12-month programme.
• Be able to commute to the Johannesburg office at least three days per week.
• Have reliable internet connection and suitable workspace when working remotely.
• Be legally authorised to work in South Africa. Preference may be given to suitably qualified candidates from designated groups in accordance with the Company's Employment Equity objectives.

About Fragomen’s Internship

Fragomen Johannesburg's Government Strategies and Corporate Compliance (GSCC) team is offering a 12-month internship opportunity for a recent graduate with an interest in immigration, public policy and government affairs.

The GSCC team works at the intersection of immigration, government engagement and strategic advisory, helping clients navigate complex government processes and an evolving regulatory landscape. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, gain exposure to a dynamic and collaborative environment, and develop valuable professional skills while contributing to the work of a leading global immigration firm.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and intellectually curious individual with a genuine interest in immigration, public policy and global affairs. The successful candidate will be organised and proactive, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They should enjoy learning, take initiative, and approach their work with professionalism and a positive attitude.

You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with strong research and writing abilities. You should be comfortable communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders, demonstrate sound judgement and produce work of a consistently high standard.

We are looking for someone who reads widely, stays informed about current affairs, and demonstrates a strong awareness of global issues, particularly those relating to immigration and international mobility. You should be able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, with a commitment to accuracy, continuous learning and delivering quality work.

Key Responsibilities May Include

• Conduct research on immigration legislation, policy and regulatory developments.
• Assist with the preparation of immigration policy advice, reports and research summaries.
• Follow up with government authorities regarding outstanding applications.
• Update clients on the progress of pending immigration applications.
• Provide general administrative support, screen telephone calls, and respond to internal and external email enquiries and communications within agreed SLA’s and protocols.
• Maintain accurate records by updating internal case management systems, including WIPPER and Connect.
• Update billing information and assist with the preparation of billing forecasts.
• Complete assigned tasks and cases within agreed team and client timelines, following established processes and procedures.
• Produce accurate, high-quality work and proactively escalate issues or risks to the manager.
• Support additional operational, administrative and client service activities as required.
