The purpose of this Financial Analyst role is to oversee preparation and presentation of accurate monthly management accounts and develop and implement financial policies.
This is an on-site role in Makhanda, Eastern Cape. You will have the tools, systems, and backing needed to do the job properly. There is genuine scope to shape the role and make it your own. The role carries deadline-driven reporting cycles, particularly around month-end and year-end.
Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with all tax legislation and regulatory requirements, managing preparation and submission of all tax returns.
- Mentor and develop finance team members, conducting performance reviews, identifying training needs, and fostering continuous improvement.
- Oversee preparation and presentation of accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements, and board reports.
- Analyse credit applications and financial statements to assess creditworthiness and make recommendations on lending decisions.
- Develop annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts, monitoring performance and providing variance analysis with detailed commentary.
- Provide strategic financial advice to senior management and the board on financial performance, risk, and growth opportunities.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and modelling to support business cases for capital investments, acquisitions, and new ventures.
Requirements
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- A professional accounting or finance qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, CFA, ACCA, or an equivalent recognised designation.
- A minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in financial management, investment analysis, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, tax legislation, and the Companies Act in South Africa.
- For credit roles, thorough understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies and experience with credit rating models.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics with an honours degree or postgraduate qualification strongly preferred.
