Information Security Officer

About the RoleOur client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Information Security Officer to join their expanding team.
This role, located in Sandton, Gauteng, is crucial for implementing and maintaining security measures that protect the organization's digital assets and sensitive information.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, experience with security frameworks, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
You will work closely with IT and business units to ensure security policies are effectively enforced and that the organization maintains a robust security posture.
This is a key role in safeguarding company data and systems.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement and manage information security policies, procedures, and standards.Monitor security systems and alerts to detect and respond to potential threats.Conduct regular security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees.Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry best practices.Manage access control systems and user authentication processes.Assist in incident response planning and execution.Collaborate with IT teams to implement security controls and solutions.Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies.Maintain security documentation and records.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.Minimum of 4 years of experience in information security or IT security roles.Good understanding of security principles, frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO *****), and best practices.Experience with security tools such as firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection systems, and SIEM.Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA).
