Maintenance Director

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading mining company, is recruiting a Maintenance Director for a residential leadership opportunity based at a large-scale mining operation in Cameroon (please note this is a residential role in Cameroon).

This executive appointment offers the successful candidate the opportunity to lead the entire maintenance function across a growing iron ore operation, providing strategic leadership over both mobile equipment and fixed plant maintenance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving equipment reliability, asset performance and operational excellence while supporting the Company’s continued growth and long-term production objectives.

The Role
The Maintenance Director will provide executive leadership across all maintenance activities, with responsibility for mobile equipment, fixed plant maintenance, reliability, maintenance planning and technical services. Leading a multidisciplinary maintenance organisation, the successful candidate will oversee multiple maintenance teams across the operation while ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective asset performance.
Working closely with Operations, Processing, Logistics and Executive Leadership, the Maintenance Director will drive maintenance strategy, improve operational reliability and develop a high-performing maintenance culture focused on safety, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The Responsibilities

Develop and implement the Company’s maintenance strategy across both mobile equipment and fixed plant assets.

Provide leadership across all maintenance disciplines, including mechanical, electromechanical, welding and hydromechanical maintenance teams.

Lead preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes to maximise equipment availability and plant reliability.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, maintenance performance and operational efficiency.

Oversee maintenance planning, shutdown execution, maintenance scheduling and CMMS optimisation.

Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) programmes to eliminate recurring equipment failures and improve long-term asset performance.

Manage maintenance budgets, operating costs and long-term asset lifecycle strategies.

Develop effective spare parts management strategies to ensure the availability of critical equipment and components.

Lead and develop maintenance leadership teams, including the Head of Mobile Equipment Maintenance and Maintenance Managers across multiple production plants.

Manage maintenance contractors, OEMs and technical service providers to ensure safe and efficient maintenance delivery.

Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with Company HSE standards and maintenance best practices.

Develop local technical capability through coaching, mentoring, succession planning and leadership development.

The Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Significant leadership experience managing maintenance across large-scale mining or mineral processing operations.

Proven experience leading both fixed plant and mobile equipment maintenance functions.

Strong understanding of maintenance planning, reliability engineering and asset management principles.

Demonstrated success implementing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.

Experience managing multidisciplinary maintenance teams within complex operational environments.

Strong knowledge of CMMS platforms, maintenance planning systems and maintenance performance reporting.

Demonstrated experience managing maintenance budgets, contractor performance and critical spare parts strategies.

Strong commercial acumen with responsibility for maintenance performance, cost optimisation and operational efficiency.

Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and people development capability.

Professional fluency in English is essential.

Professional fluency in French would be highly advantageous.
