Industrial Engineer - Operations Flow Specialist

About the RoleOur client, a growing manufacturing firm located in Soweto, Gauteng, is seeking a dedicated Industrial Engineer to specialize in Operations Flow.
This role is essential for analyzing, designing, and optimizing the movement of materials, people, and information throughout the production process.
You will be instrumental in identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, improving workstation design, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of industrial engineering principles, a keen eye for detail, and a practical approach to implementing improvements on the shop floor.
This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to operational excellence within a dynamic organization in the Gauteng region.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze existing production workflows and material handling systems to identify opportunities for improvement.Design and implement optimized process flows, workstation layouts, and material management strategies.Utilize time and motion studies to improve efficiency and reduce waste in operational tasks.Develop and maintain process documentation, including flowcharts, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.Collaborate with production supervisors and line workers to implement process changes and gather feedback.Identify and address ergonomic issues to improve worker safety and comfort.Assist in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline operations.Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operational flow and efficiency.Support new product introduction by designing efficient manufacturing processes.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a focus on operations, workflow, and process improvement.Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools.Proficiency in process mapping, time studies, and layout design.Experience with CAD software for layout design is an advantage.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with shop-floor personnel.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Must be based in or willing to commute to Soweto, Gauteng.BenefitsCompetitive salary.Medical aid and provident fund contributions.Opportunities for skills development and on-the-job training.Annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Paid annual leave.A supportive team environment within a growing company.
