Hands-on from day one, the Events Coordinator will advise clients on travel options, prepare detailed travel itineraries and monitor and maintain equipment and vehicles used for tours for a hospitality establishment in Makhanda, Eastern Cape.

The role is guest-facing and includes weekend and holiday work during peak tourism seasons.
Responsibilities
- Manage reservations for accommodation, tours, and activities, optimising occupancy and revenue through yield management.
- Coordinate event logistics including venue setup, catering, entertainment, and audio-visual requirements to meet client specifications.
- Prepare detailed travel itineraries, invoices, travel vouchers, and pre-departure information packs for clients.
- Advise clients on travel options including destinations, accommodation, transport, and activities based on their preferences and budget.
- Handle guest complaints and service recovery professionally, resolving issues promptly to maintain guest satisfaction.
- Process travel bookings including flights, hotels, car hire, and tours using booking systems and supplier websites.
- Monitor and maintain equipment and vehicles used for tours and activities, ensuring they are clean, serviced, and roadworthy.
Requirements
- Proficiency in travel booking systems and Microsoft Office applications for reservations and administrative tasks.
- Strong knowledge of South African geography, tourist attractions, and the local tourism product.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours including weekends, public holidays, and evenings as tourism is a 24/7 industry.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is highly advantageous.
- A valid driver's licence with a professional driving permit is required for most tour guiding positions.
- A diploma or degree in tourism management, hospitality, or a related field from a recognised institution.
