The purpose of this Industrial Cleaner role is to empty waste bins and recycling containers from all designated areas and follow a daily cleaning schedule.
This is an on-site role in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Everyone is expected to pull their weight, and everyone is valued for it. You will be encouraged to broaden your expertise and take on new challenges. Think you are a good fit? Send your CV through and introduce yourself.
Normal working hours apply, with occasional flexibility required during busy periods.
Responsibilities
- Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture thoroughly, spot-clean stains as they occur, and arrange for periodic deep cleaning.
- Manage and safely store all cleaning chemicals and equipment, ensuring hazardous substances are labelled and locked away when not in use.
- Dust and wipe all surfaces including desks, windowsills, ledges, picture frames, and skirting boards using appropriate cleaning cloths.
- Follow a daily cleaning schedule and checklist to ensure all assigned tasks are completed to the required standard within the allocated time.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards such as broken fixtures, leaking taps, or slippery floors to the supervisor promptly.
Requirements
- A clear criminal record is often required for positions at schools, healthcare facilities, or secure commercial premises.
- Good communication skills to report issues to supervisors and interact politely with clients or members of the public.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and correct use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective gear to work safely.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing time effectively to complete all tasks within the shift.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential, as cleaning schedules must be adhered to and clients depend on consistent service.
- Willingness to work flexible hours which may include early mornings, late evenings, or weekends depending on operational needs.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods while performing cleaning duties.
