MINING RIGHTS AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE OFFICER – Centurion
An established mining and mineral exploration group is seeking an experienced Mining Rights and Regulatory Compliance Officer to manage mining and prospecting rights applications and regulatory processes across South Africa.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in mining rights applications and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record in independently preparing, drafting and successfully executing prospecting and mining rights applications.
- Previous employment with the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) , specifically in application adjudication or evaluation.
- Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of South African mining legislation, regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Strong contract drafting, legal interpretation and regulatory liaison skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Afrikaans and other official South African languages will be advantageous.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel independently to DMPR regional offices across South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently prepare, draft and submit prospecting and mining rights applications through to final execution.
- Monitor application progress and adjudication processes, respond to departmental queries and facilitate communication with the DMPR.
- Act as the primary liaison between the group and the DMPR on all matters relating to prospecting and mining rights applications.
- Coordinate and manage regulatory enquiries relating to the group’s inter-provincial mining and prospecting operations.
- Ensure applications and supporting documentation comply with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Apply strong analytical and risk assessment skills to identify and address potential regulatory challenges.
- Manage multiple applications and deadlines accurately while working independently and collaboratively.
