Careful, trained cleaners are wanted at a community health clinic in Benoni. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.
You'll be based at a community health clinic in Benoni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.
What you'll actually do
- Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
- Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
- Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
- Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
- Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
You'll need
- Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
- Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
- Calm under pressure in busy wards
- Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
- Matric or Grade 11
- Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
Extra points for
- Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
- Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
