Stores Manager

Stores Manager Westmead, Pinetown Talent Connected Staffing Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a valued client for a Stores Manager (Fixed-12-Mounth contract) to oversee stock management, inventory control, job card administration, work in progress and logistics.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will lead the stores team and work closely with Planning, Production, Quality and Finance to maintain accurate stock records, improve operational efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
Key Responsibilities: Manage job card confirmation and closure, daily cost implosion reports and job cost recalculations.
Coordinate with Planning and Production to manage work in progress (WIP), ensure timely close-off and investigate variances.
Oversee incoming purchased and free-issue stock, stock storage and stores housekeeping.
Maintain accurate inventory records in Syspro.
Review slow-moving, excess and obsolete stock, and develop appropriate provision and write-off plans.
Assess landed stock values against quoted prices and review production variances.
Analyse inventory-related General Ledger accounts.
Oversee cycle counting, investigate count variances and conduct stocktakes every three months.
Coordinate with configuration teams on bill of materials (BOM) changes.
Address material overusage and work with Quality to ensure defective materials are handled appropriately.
Prepare documented stock adjustment requests for the Financial Manager.
Investigate company and customer stock shortages and resolve contributing process issues.
Supervise and motivate stores personnel, aligning workloads with production requirements and sales orders.
Coordinate stock delivery timing with the expeditor and planner.
Schedule deliveries and collections, and maintain dispatch, driver and vehicle logs.
Oversee finished goods warehouses, review line-side stock and ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices.
Identify and implement cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
Prepare accurate month-end and year-end stock reports and support financial closing processes.
Analyse and report on monthly gross margin and purchase price variances.
Document processes and policies to improve internal controls.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
Professional certification in Production and Inventory Management, Six Sigma or a similar discipline.
Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and best practices.
Proven experience managing and motivating teams.
Proficiency in Syspro and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective operational improvements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
