Crops do not wait, and a commercial seedling nursery near Gqeberha needs extra hands this season. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.
This post is Gqeberha-based, with most of your time spent at a commercial seedling nursery. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.
What you'll actually do
- Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
- Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
- Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
- Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
- Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
Must-haves
- Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
- Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
- Available for the full harvest season
- Valid ID or work permit
- Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
Nice if you have
- Tractor or quad bike experience
- Living on or near the farm
- Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees
