Job Title: Coal Miner

Location: Mpumalanga, South Africa

Job Overview:
We are seeking experienced and skilled Coal Miners to join our client's team in Mpumalanga. The Coal Miner will be responsible for safely operating equipment, extracting coal from underground mines, and ensuring efficient production and adherence to all relevant safety regulations. This position requires physical stamina, technical knowledge, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities:

Safely operate underground mining equipment such as continuous miners, roof bolters, shuttle cars, scoops, and rock dusters.
Conduct pre-shift inspections of mining equipment to identify and report any potential safety or mechanical issues.
Install temporary support systems in underground mines, such as roof bolts and ventilation curtains, to ensure stability and safety.
Use drilling equipment to extract coal samples for analysis and quality control purposes.
Monitor and analyze coal production levels and equipment performance to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on mining equipment to maintain reliability and extend equipment life.
Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Follow mining plans and blueprints to navigate underground mine layouts and assist in determining the best extraction methods.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate mining operations and address any issues or concerns.
Participate in safety training programs and adhere to safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
Analyze geologic, hydrologic, or other data to plan and prioritize mining operations.
Assist in the development of new mining methods and technologies to improve efficiency and safety.
Operate mine hoist systems to transport workers and materials in and out of the mine.
Keep accurate records of daily mining activities, production, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Blasting Certificate for Fiery Mines or a National Certificate in Rock Breaking for Underground Coal Mines
Proven experience as a Coal Miner or in a similar underground mining role.
Extensive knowledge of mining equipment, tools, processes, and safety regulations.
Physical stamina and the ability to work in a physically demanding and potentially hazardous environment.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Willingness to work flexible hours and in various weather conditions
Knowledge of local mining regulations and compliance requirements will be an advantage.
