Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Engineer applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Being a Senior Mechanical Engineer requires a bachelor’s degree of Mechanical Engineering. May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. In addition, Senior Mechanical Engineer typically reports to a manager. Being a Senior Mechanical Engineer contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Responsibilities:

  • Provide input into project schedule;
  • Comply with technical standards, company procedures, regulatory and legal requirements;

  • Conceptual input into plant layouts;

  • BSc: Mechanical Engineering;
  • BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Experience in plumbing, drainage, medical gases, lifts, escalators, air conditioning, heating and ventilation as well as refrigeration;
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience;
  • 10 years experience;
  • Great communication and leadership skills;
  • Working knowledge of relevant South African standards (SANS, National Building Regulations);
  • PMP optional, but would be highly beneficial;
  • Valid drivers license;
  • B. Eng or B. Sc Mechanical Engineering;
  • 5 year’s design experience in mechanical building services projects;
  • Pr Eng registered.
