Our company is looking for a Legal Advisor in Property to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing matters outsourced to other legal firms;
  • Provide strategic guidance on all Legal and Compliance matters;
  • Report to the relevant risk committees;
  • Interact with other legal functions in other business units to efficiently manage processes and transactions;
  • Any further legal assistance as determined by the CEO, CFO and the Head of Properties;
  • Managing the Properties Litigation portfolio (Landlord Tenant matters as well as business specific matters);
  • Manage the legal risk and ensure that the necessary legal support is offered to the business;
  • Keeping our client up to date with changes in statutory and common law as far as it relates to properties and its business;
  • Interact with Investments: Risk and Compliance to ensure that investments are managed per mandate and within the regulatory framework;
  • Attend relevant committee meetings;
  • Manage the legal risk for the company and ensure that the necessary legal support is offered to the business;
  • Review various agreements relating to the properties business;
  • Attend relevant committees;
  • Interact with other legal functions within our client and the investment business to efficiently manage processes and transactions;
  • Keeping the company up to date with changes in the statutory and common law as far as it relates to properties and the business.

Requirements:

  • Advanced drafting skills;
  • Good knowledge of the South African legal, financial, litigation and taxation system;
  • Reasonable financial and economic literacy;
  • Good communication skills;
  • A tertiary business/commercial qualification will be advantageous;
  • Strong commercial law experience including drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts;
  • 3 years relevant experience in a Legal role at a comparable Property and/or Financial Services;
  • LLB degree;
  • Admission as an Attorney of the High Court;
  • Admission as a Conveyancer will be advantageous.
