Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Being a Senior Accountant analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. In addition, Senior Accountant may supervise and guide lower-level accountants. Requires a bachelor’s degree. May require CPA certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Being a Senior Accountant contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Working as a Senior Accountant typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing of journals;
  • Management accounts and reporting (OPEX);
  • Provisional tax calculations;
  • Budgets;
  • Workman’s compensation submission;
  • Liaising with external auditors;
  • Reinforce financial data confidentiality;
  • Ensure all capitalized assets are reported on p/month per farm for the group;
  • Drafting financial statements;
  • Compiling monthly management accounts;
  • Cashflow – Capex: Provide a clear monthly forecast of capex items to be paid in the next 4 months for all entities;
  • Reviewing of all I/S gl’s to ensure accuracy and correctness of postings and performing all correction Journals for all entities;
  • Ensure Global TB pulls through to the Group Monthly Management Accounts;
  • Reconciliations;
  • Assist FM with yearly budgets and forecasting for all entities.

Requirements:

  • Able to work independently, under pressure and meet deadlines;

  • Proficient in presenting reports and financial information to others;
  • BCom Degree;
