The road is your office with a cross-border transport company based in George, and the load gets there because of you. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.
Home base is a cross-border transport company on the George side of Western Cape.
The work, day to day
- Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
- Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
- Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
- Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
- Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
- Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
- Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
You'll need
- Medically fit, including eyesight
- At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
- Passport for cross-border routes
- Clean driving record with no serious accidents
- Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
- Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
What's in it for you
- Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
- Provident fund and medical aid option
- Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
Applying, step by step
- Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
- Keep copies of these ready to send: passport copy for cross-border work, dangerous goods certificate if you have one plus reference letters from previous transport companies.
- Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
- Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 5 working days.
How2Apply recruits for this position on behalf of hiring employers around George; applications go into our talent pool and shortlisted candidates are introduced directly.
How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.
How to stand out
- Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
- Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
