Customer Assistant

Role Purpose
The purpose of this full time 28hour role is to contribute to the overall success of the store by providing customers with accurate and relevant information, resolving queries efficiently, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Customer Assistant will play a key role in supporting daily store operations, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through professional and efficient service.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a host/hostess to welcome customers, provide information on products and services through various channels, resolve queries, and build strong customer relationships.
Accurately manage the cash desk, including processing orders, exchanges, refunds, and providing cash back on returned goods while recording all transactions.
Onboard customers to the loyalty program, recommend additional products, and ensure processes minimize waiting times and enhance service quality.
Ensure full compliance with internal control procedures and till policies while maintaining accurate records for all transactions.
Liaise with relevant departments regarding returned goods and escalate any identified risks or issues to management in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
Experience in a sales environment (retail) , with the ability to identify and act on upselling opportunities
Practical experience managing cash desk transactions (cash, refunds, exchanges) with full accuracy
Strong communication skills, conveying information clearly and with empathy
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
