We are recruiting a Sales Assistant for a busy retail outlet in Springbok, Northern Cape. You will operate the point-of-sale system, handle cash and card payments accurately, process returns and exchanges, and balance the till at the end of each shift. Honesty, integrity, and attention to detail are essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and identify shrinkage issues promptly.
- Handle customer returns and exchanges professionally, adhering to company policies while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Open and close the store following security procedures including cashing up, locking up, and setting alarms.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the store including the sales floor, fitting rooms, stockroom, and staff areas.
- Monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
- Train and develop new sales assistants, demonstrating excellent customer service techniques and product knowledge.
- Receive, unpack, and price incoming stock deliveries, checking quantities against delivery notes and reporting discrepancies.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work retail hours including weekends, public holidays, and late trading evenings.
- A minimum of one to three years of retail experience with proven customer service skills in a store environment.
- A Grade 12 certificate is the minimum requirement; a retail or business-related qualification is advantageous.
- A genuine passion for customer service with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
- For management roles, proven experience in leading a retail team and driving sales to achieve targets.
- A professional and well-presented appearance reflecting the brand image of the retail establishment.
