Lecturer

The Department of Fashion Design in the Faculty of Arts and Design has a Part-Time Lecturer position at
the Arts Campus.

INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants are required to submit, together with the CVs, a fully completed standardized
application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified copies of qualifications
and Identity Document. Failure to comply with this instruction will disqualify the candidate. Candidates may
be subjected to appropriate psychometric testing and other selection instruments.
Core functions:
• Teach Research Methods in Design to Postgraduate Diploma students.
• Develop and deliver learning materials on practice-based and practice-led research
methodologies.
• Guide students in identifying research problems and developing viable research topics.
• Assist students in integrating creative practice with critical reflection and scholarly inquiry.
• Facilitate seminars, workshops and research consultations.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Academic Qualifications
• Hold a PhD in Design, Arts, or a closely related field.

Experience and Academic Competencies
• Have specialised knowledge of practice-based and practice-led research methodologies.
• Have at least five years of teaching experience in higher education.
• Demonstrate the ability to guide and supervise research projects across diverse art and design
disciplines.
• Have a sound understanding of qualitative research, academic writing, research ethics, proposal
development, and the integration of creative practice into scholarly inquiry.

Registration with a relevant professional body is optional.
