Quantity Surveyor (Building Contractor)

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the quantity surveying practice in Epping. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a quantity surveying practice in Epping. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings

Must-haves

• Code 08 licence for site visits
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses

Helpful, not essential

• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying
