We need a seasoned forensic specialist to lead complex investigations across our Fusion Centre
About our Fusion Centre
Our Fusion Centre is a specialist Intelligence unit that investigates financial crime across three major areas: credit-related fraud (including syndicated loan fraud using fraudulent documents), insurance fraud and core banking scams, covering everything from investment fraud and Ponzi schemes to money laundering and deposit scams.
We work across both personal and business banking, which means the variety of cases is real and the complexity is constant.
What you'll do
Lead end-to-end investigations into complex fraud, from planning objectives and mapping the modus operandi through to evidence gathering, forensic reporting and criminal case initiationIdentify control gaps and recommend practical preventative measures that stop losses before they growSet investigation standards for the team, review work quality and ensure every case is handled consistently and thoroughlyProvide executive-level reporting on fraud trends, actions taken and recommended changes to policy and processBuild and maintain working relationships with law enforcement and industry stakeholders to see cases through to outcomeMentor and develop team members, coaching them on methods, frameworks and best practice so the team gets better every day
What we're looking for
At least 6 years' experience as a specialist investigator or forensic auditorAt least 6 years in banking crime investigation (strongly preferred)A relevant degree in Law or FinanceSolid grounding in investigation methods and the intelligence processFamiliarity with the South African banking industryThe ability to absorb unstructured, ambiguous information and translate it into clear, structured findings quicklyStrong written and verbal communication — you can write a detailed forensic report and share your findings confidently with internal and external stakeholdersOrganised and conscientious — you keep track of a lot, and nothing slipsSome people management or team leadership experience (advantageous)Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel and MS OutlookA genuine commitment to developing people and raising the standard of the team around you
