The Trade Electrician will diagnose and repair electrical faults in industrial machinery, provide guidance and supervision to apprentices and semi-skilled assistants and respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies during and outside normal.
The role is based in Springs, Gauteng. The setting is busy but well-organised, with a focus on getting the job done properly. Do well here and the door to greater responsibility opens quickly. Responsibilities
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals to plan installations and troubleshoot circuit problems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in industrial machinery, control panels, motor circuits, and building systems using testing equipment.
- Install and commission solar photovoltaic systems including panel mounting, inverter connection, battery integration, and system configuration.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies during and outside normal hours as part of a standby rotation.
- Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety regulations including lockout and tagout procedures when working on energised equipment.
- Issue Certificates of Compliance after completing installations or repairs, verifying work meets regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- A valid driver's licence with ability to travel to client sites as required, often carrying tools and equipment.
- A wireman's licence issued by the Department of Employment and Labour and electrical contractor registration where required.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to systematically diagnose faults and identify root causes rather than just symptoms.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments including multimeters, insulation testers, earth loop impedance testers, and clamp meters.
- A recognised trade certificate in electrical engineering or national diploma in electrical engineering from a registered institution.
