A leading and well-established South African group is seeking an experienced

Group Internal Audit Manager to take ownership of the internal audit function across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional who is comfortable working independently and strategically , with the ability to assess business risks, develop and execute audit plans, identify control weaknesses, and provide meaningful recommendations to senior management.

The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the Group's governance, risk management and internal control environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain a risk-based annual internal audit plan aligned to the Group's strategic and operational objectives.
• Independently identify key business, financial, operational and compliance risks requiring audit attention.
• Plan, scope and execute internal audit assignments from inception through to reporting.
• Conduct risk assessments and determine appropriate audit methodologies and procedures.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes and risk management frameworks.
• Identify control weaknesses, process inefficiencies and potential areas of financial or operational risk.
• Prepare clear, well-structured audit reports and present findings and recommendations to management.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to discuss findings, agree corrective actions and monitor implementation.
• Track and follow up on outstanding audit findings and agreed management actions.
• Provide practical recommendations that improve business processes, controls and operational efficiency.
• Perform ad hoc investigations, reviews and special projects where required.
• Assist in strengthening the Group's internal control environment and governance framework.
• Work closely with management and other assurance functions to promote a strong risk and control culture.
• Provide management with independent assurance and insights on areas of significant risk.

REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant Bachelor's degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or a related field.
• Professional internal audit or accounting qualification will be advantageous.
• 5+ years' relevant internal audit experience , with experience at a management/senior level.
• Strong experience in risk-based internal auditing .
• Demonstrated experience in developing and executing audit plans independently .
• Proven ability to take ownership of the full audit lifecycle, from risk assessment and planning through to reporting and follow-up.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, governance, risk management and audit methodologies.
• Experience working with senior management and presenting audit findings.
• Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, independence and professional judgement.
• Ability to operate autonomously while still collaborating effectively with stakeholders.

ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience within FMCG, manufacturing, retail, logistics or another operationally complex environment .
• Group or multi-site internal audit experience.
• Experience auditing operational, financial and supply chain processes.
• Experience working in an environment where the Internal Audit function requires a high degree of independence and initiative .
• CIA, CA(SA), CIMA or another relevant professional designation.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone who is not reliant on being handed an audit plan .

The ideal candidate is commercially minded, curious and confident enough to enter a business area, understand the risks, determine where the gaps are and build an appropriate audit plan and approach independently .

You should be comfortable challenging existing processes, engaging with senior stakeholders and translating audit findings into practical business improvements.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an Internal Audit professional who wants to have a visible impact at Group level .
