About the role
The Junior Marketing Coordinator provides essential operational support to the marketing department, assisting in campaign execution, content coordination, and administrative functions while gaining hands- on experience across multiple marketing disciplines.

Responsibilities:

Campaign Support & Project Coordination

  • Assist in the execution of integrated marketing campaigns (digital, email, social, print).
  • Create and maintain project timelines in tools like Asana, Trello, or Monday.com.
  • Gather assets (copy, images, links) from internal teams and external vendors.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks (e.g., test email links, verify social posts, proofread content).
  • Track campaign deliverables and flag potential delays to the Marketing Manager.
Content & Social Media Management
  • Support the content calendar and social media presence.
  • Schedule posts across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok) using scheduling tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
  • Draft basic copy and source images/videos in line with brand voice.
  • Monitor comments and messages; escalate customer inquiries to appropriate teams.
  • Pull weekly engagement metrics (reach, impressions, clicks) and assist in preparing performance summaries.
Event & Tradeshow Coordination
  • Provide logistical support for company events, webinars, and tradeshows.
  • Coordinate attendee registration, email reminders, and post-event surveys.
  • Prepare event materials (brochures, giveaways, signage) and manage inventory.
  • Serve as on-site support during events (setup, registration desk, tear-down).
  • Assist in tracking event expenses and collecting invoices for reconciliation.
Marketing Operations & Administrative Support
  • Handle day-to-day administrative tasks that keep the department running efficiently.
  • Process purchase orders, track invoices, and maintain budget spreadsheets.
  • Organize digital asset libraries (photos, logos, videos) and ensure version control.
  • Manage promotional product inventory, reordering as needed.
  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and document meeting minutes.
Analytics & Reporting
  • Assist in measuring marketing performance.
  • Pull data from Google Analytics, social platforms, and email marketing software (Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
  • Create simple dashboards in Excel or Google Sheets to visualize KPIs.
  • Help compile monthly reports summarizing campaign results, insights, and recommendations.
Vendor & Agency Coordination
  • Act as a point of contact for external partners under supervision.
  • Communicate project briefs, deadlines, and deliverables to printers, freelancers, and agencies.
  • Review basic deliverables for accuracy and alignment with brand guidelines.
  • Maintain vendor contact lists and contract records.
Minimum Requirements
  • South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
  • Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
  • Matric.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Equivalent work experience or a combination of education and relevant internships will be considered.
Specific Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and social media scheduling tools (Buffer, Hootsuite).
  • Working knowledge of email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar).
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics (or ability to learn quickly).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear, error-free copy.
  • graphic design skills using Canva or Adobe Spark for simple asset creation.
  • Experience with project management software (Asana, Trello) is a plus.

  • Positive feedback from team members and stakeholders on responsiveness and reliability.
  • Progression in proficiency of marketing tools as demonstrated through independent usage.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements (Optional):
  • Standard office environment with hybrid work flexibility (typically 2–3 days in office per company policy).
  • Occasional travel for events, tradeshows, or vendor meetings (estimated 5–10%).
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs for event setup (e.g., transporting materials, displays, boxes).
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work during event periods.
