Senior Sales Manager - Solar & Energy Storage Products

Overview:
Drive regional sales growth for Huawei solar PV and battery energy storage products within a renewable-energy distribution business. The role manages new business development, key and corporate accounts, reseller and EPC channels, revenue, gross profit and pipeline performance. Each manager will take responsibility for the relevant region, with collaboration on national accounts and cross-regional opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Develop regional sales plans and achieve revenue, gross-profit and customer-growth targets.
Identify, qualify and convert opportunities with solar EPCs, installers, resellers, developers and corporate customers.
Maintain relationships with business owners, executives, procurement professionals, engineers and other technical decision-makers.
Manage the sales cycle from prospecting and customer needs assessment through proposals, negotiation, order delivery and payment follow-up.
Expand existing accounts through repeat business, cross-selling and greater adoption of solar and storage solutions.
Present technical solutions and commercial value, including energy savings, financial returns, operational benefits and lifecycle costs.
Prepare quotations and proposals with technical teams, validating product suitability, project scope and delivery commitments.
Coordinate product updates, training, joint customer engagements and project opportunities with Huawei.
Work with Procurement, Logistics, Finance and After-Sales teams to support effective fulfilment and customer service.
Maintain accurate CRM records, account plans, pipeline forecasts and sales reports; track competition, market demand and pricing.
Support credit reviews, agreed payment terms and collections; participate in customer visits, industry events and partner training.
Develop Gauteng and assigned inland accounts, or Western Cape and assigned coastal accounts, depending on placement.
Minimum Requirements:
At least 5 years of relevant B2B sales experience in solar, battery storage, electrical equipment or energy solutions, including regional sales or major-account responsibility.
Proven achievement of sales and gross-profit targets and a track record of selling to corporate customers.
Good knowledge of South African solar distribution channels, including EPCs, installers and resellers, with established regional customer relationships.
Strong practical understanding of PV and BESS applications and the ability to translate technical benefits into commercially credible proposals.
Familiarity with Huawei FusionSolar offerings, including SUN2000 inverters, LUNA2000 energy storage, FusionSolar monitoring, SmartLogger and associated controls.
Understanding of PV-storage integration, backup power, self-consumption, peak shaving and microgrid applications; optimisers and EV charging integration where relevant.
Direct Huawei product sales experience strongly preferred; relevant product training or certification advantageous.
Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business or a related field is advantageous; substantial relevant experience will be considered.
Proficiency in CRM systems, Excel, forecasting, customer presentations and commercial proposals.
Valid driving licence and willingness to travel for customers and project engagements.
Strong negotiation, relationship management, commercial judgement and customer-focused communication.
