Junior Sales Merchandiser

Our Textile Manufacturing client is currently looking for a Junior Sales Merchandiser based in Jacobs, Durban
 
 
Reporting To: Key Account Manager
Location: Durban

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a junior, commercially minded candidate who can support the Sales and Merchandising team with customer requirements, product and order administration, sourcing coordination and order follow-through. The role requires someone who is organised, numerically comfortable, customer-focused and willing to learn the full merchandising and order lifecycle.

 
IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Approximately 2–3 years’ experience in sales support, merchandising, order processing, customer service, buying/procurement support or a similar commercial environment.
• Experience in textiles, manufacturing, retail supply, FMCG or another product-based environment would be advantageous.
• Matric required; a relevant Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
• Exposure to dealing with customers, suppliers/service providers and internal operational teams.
• Basic understanding of orders, quotations, pricing, costing or margins would be beneficial.
• Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to work accurately with figures and information.
• Strong administration, follow-up, planning and attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and a professional customer-service approach.
• Energetic, proactive, willing to learn and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

 
WHAT THE PERSON WILL SUPPORT

• Customer communication and follow-up on requirements and orders.
• Preparation and coordination of quotations, product information and order documentation.
• Following orders from placement through sourcing/production to delivery.
• Liaising with suppliers/service providers and internal teams on timelines and outstanding actions.
• Monitoring order progress and escalating risks or delays.
• Supporting product sourcing and new product opportunities.
• Maintaining accurate sales/order information and basic reports.
• Supporting the team in achieving customer service, OTIF and commercial objectives.
