ASSISTANT MANAGER

We are currently looking for an Assistant Branch Manager to assist with the efficient running of our paint retail branch in Sandton. The candidate must be a strong individual with excellent communication skills, detailed oriented with good organisational and time management skills. He/she will be reporting directly to the Branch Manager as well as the Sales/ Operations Director . The suitable candidate will be accountable for day-to-day operations of the branch and responsible for managerial and administrative functions of the Branch. The individual must be a reliable person, who can maintain communication between staff and senior management, as well as provide support, guidance, and training to various staff members.

Key Performance Areas

Tasks

Internal Sales

1. Ensure that New Home Improver cards are opened by all staff members
2. Provide technical specifications
3. Grow branch sales
4. Assist the sales team with quotes to customers and ensure company GP is achieved
5. Service existing accounts from the branch
6. Communicate customer’s requests to management
7. Excellent knowledge of the market conditions to aid sales
8. Maximise the sales value of each transaction through add on sales
9. Prompt timeous response to in-store or telephonic customers
10. Closing off tint orders through invoicing and appropriate notification /delivery of orders placed
11. Maximise gross profits

Administration

1. Maintain control during stock take and assists in the process
2. Market merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans

OHSA

1. Ensure that the branch adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act
2. Assist in reporting and recording of Occupational Injuries and Diseases
3. Protect customers and employees by providing a safe and clean store environment
4. Ensure vehicle safety checks are adequately done

Report writing

1. Keep track of customer accounts
2. Balance cash receipts

Management Control

1. Schedule, motivate and supervise staff
2. Provide training and development of staff
3. Assist in evaluating staff work performance by preparing and delivering performance reviews
4. Monitor quality of service of staff
5. Discipline and provide counselling to staff
6. Assist in achieving set sales targets

Inventory control

1. Conduct random stock-takes
2. Order groceries and supplies when required
3. Check received stock against invoice
4. Ensure prices are marked in store
5. Restock shelves
6. Collect all returns

• Minimum Matric certificate
• Working knowledge of Omni system
• Valid and unendorsed driver’s licence
• Complete certificate 1 in LCT
• National Diploma / Degree shall serve as an advantage
• Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in paint retail
• Knowledge of Paint and Paint Applications
• Strong Administration skills
