You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the solar and battery project developer in Pietermaritzburg. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.
Location: Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.
The work, day to day
- Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
- Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
- Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
- Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
- Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
- Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Must-haves
- At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
- BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
- Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
- Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
- Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Nice if you have
- Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
- PLC programming certification
- Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
