Senior Network Security Specialist

About the Role Our client is seeking a proactive and highly skilled Senior Network Security Specialist to enhance their security posture in Stellenbosch .
You will be responsible for protecting the company's network infrastructure from evolving cyber threats by designing, implementing, and managing robust security solutions.
This role requires a deep understanding of network security principles, threat landscapes, and the ability to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
Join a dedicated security team focused on safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring the continuous availability and integrity of our client's telecommunications network, with a blend of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, and manage network security solutions, including firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDPS), VPNs, and SIEM platforms.
Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans to identify and remediate risks.
Develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
Monitor security alerts and investigate potential security incidents, responding effectively to contain and eradicate threats.
Collaborate with IT and network operations teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of network design and deployment.
Stay current with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in network security engineering or operations.
In-depth knowledge of firewall management, IDS/IPS, VPN technologies , and security protocols.
Hands-on experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and security assessment methodologies.
Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and common attack vectors.
Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or equivalent are highly desirable.
