Senior Underwriter - Fuel

A leading specialist insurer is seeking a Senior Underwriter – Fuel to join a high-performing and innovative Trade Guarantee team. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded professional who enjoys financial analysis, relationship management, business development, and making sound credit decisions in a dynamic environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will take ownership of a portfolio of clients, assess and manage risk, build strong stakeholder relationships, and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the business. This role requires a well-rounded individual who is comfortable analysing financial statements, engaging with clients and brokers, and identifying opportunities within the market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse financial statements and conduct underwriting assessments.
• Manage and grow a portfolio of clients.
• Make informed underwriting and credit decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and beneficiaries.
• Monitor and manage ongoing risk exposures.
• Stay abreast of industry developments, regulations, and market trends.
• Identify business development opportunities within your portfolio.
• Support digitisation and automation initiatives.
• Contribute broadly to team objectives and strategic projects.

Minimum Requirements:

• BCom degree.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in financial services and/or the fuel industry.
• Strong financial statement analysis skills.
• Proven client relationship management experience.
• Valid driver's licence.

Advantageous:

• Experience in guarantees or trade guarantee products.
• Fuel industry experience.
• Business development experience.
• FAIS compliance and RE5 qualification.
